Wash My Feet Lord
©2004 Words and Music by Donald F. Carpenter/BMI

You wake early in the morning, got to be at work by nine
Travel the long and dusty highway, today’s event’s that’s all in mind
Barely spoken to your children, there hardly ever seems the time
Your day is always very busy, did you drift across that line…

Yes it’s early in the evening, as you walk in through the door
Your heart sinks into your stomach, when you look at all the chores
That were left behind this morning, when you ran out to the store
You checked on your little children, as they prayed upon the floor…

Asked the Lord for His forgiveness, as tear fell from your eye
Just before it hit the floor, you had your children by your side
They comforted and they love you, and asked you not to cry
Said come kneel and pray beside us, let Jesus take your pride…

Oh wash my feet Lord; I’ve traveled far this earth today
Wash my feet Lord; I feel this dust will turn to clay
Wash my feet Lord; Remove this burden from me I pray
Oh wash my feet Lord; I need your cleansing every day
